The Russian Premier League is the most elite professional football league in the Russian Federation, where you’ll witness all of the nation’s top clubs and competitors squaring off in a hot competition for the championship. The RFPL is a young league–established in just 2001 — and is made up of 16 teams, of which the highest performing in the league’s short history are Spartak Moscow (the reigning champion) and CSKA Moscow.

In the U.S.

Previously available on a variety of channels and streaming services like beIN SPORTS and Fubo Premier, Russian Premier League matches are no longer regularly broadcast on any channel. Don’t fret just yet, though: the Russian Cup (currently in the quarter-final round) is being broadcast on ESPN3 (also known as WatchESPN) which is an online-only streaming service available through providers like Direct TV, Comcast Xfinity, and others.

If you don’t have a contract with one of these television or internet providers and don’t want one, ESPN just launched its streaming service, ESPN+, however, Russian Premier League football is not yet part of the early programming schedule, though the service is in its infancy and that may soon change.

While not Russian Premier League matches per se, you can watch the Russian national team compete in upcoming World Cup matches on streaming services like DIRECTV NOW, Fubo Premier, and Sling Blue.

In the UK

Sadly, despite the fact that the Russian Premier League is considered the sixth best football league on the European continent, the league currently does not have a TV deal in the UK. This may be due to political unease between the two countries.

In Europe

The Russian Premier League is broadcast on Match TV and Sport Plus in its home country, while a variety of networks have rights in other continental European nations, including Sportsdigital.tv in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and Eurosport in Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and others.

In Australia

As in the UK and the US, the TV rights to Russian Premier League football are currently not held by any provider in the country. Here’s hoping that changes soon.

Due to the unfortunate fact that its difficult to find a good live streaming source for Russian Premier League football in any country, even with a VPN (virtual private network) provider that can anchor your connection to a server in a different country, it still may be hard to catch the matches that you are looking for.

Nevertheless, with the Russian-hosted World Cup coming up, catching all of the Russian National Team’s (featuring many athletes from Russian Premier League clubs) matches in the tournament is the next best thing. Fox Sports owns the rights to broadcast the games on television in the US, but fuboTV will be streaming the matches, as well. If you are outside of the US, you can use a VPN to establish a US internet connection and use the service, which is geo-blocked outside of the states.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Pick a solid, well regarded VPN provider like ExpressVPN or NordVPN.
  2. Establish an account through the provider’s website and download the VPN client on the device you wish to stream from.
  3. Clear your browser cache and connect to a server within the US.
  4. Go to the fuboTV website and create an account. If it doesn’t work as planned, you can rest easy knowing that there’s a seven-day free trial and you may cancel without paying any money.
