What the Community Says
IPVanish comes up a lot as a solid, everyday VPN that feels fast and straightforward, especially for streaming and Firestick setups. People like it for basic privacy (keeping your ISP from seeing what you’re doing) and some also feel better after reading through the no-logs policy and audit info. It’s often seen as a fair deal for the price when it’s on a good plan.
The biggest complaints are reliability in certain places and networks—some say it’s blocked in restrictive countries (like Russia or Iran) and can be a no-go when traveling there. A few people mention weird routing/location issues (getting placed in the wrong country) or DNS/timeouts that feel like internal network hiccups. Customer support also gets heat for slow or unhelpful replies and refund frustration when things don’t work for a specific trip.
Strengths
- Fast speeds
- Works well on Firestick
- Good for everyday privacy
- Feels like a fair price on longer plans
- No-logs and audit info is reassuring to some
Weaknesses
- Can be blocked in restrictive countries
- Occasional routing/location weirdness
- Some DNS/connection timeout issues
- Customer support can feel unresponsive
- Refund disputes when it doesn’t work for travel

50 reviews"That’s a big question right there, isn’t it? “Best” is pretty much a matter of personal preference, tbh, and a lot depends on what you’re after. I got sucked down the research black hole myself a couple of years ago. I decided that the best VPN for me was one that offered a healthy balance between three factors: speed, simultaneous device limits and, of course, actual privacy. I chose IPVanish, and it has worked excellently as my VPN for well over a year. If you are looking for a super fast, reliable VPN that the entire household can use for streaming, torrenting, and just general s..."
"pretty sure all the VPNs owned by Kape (ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, NordVPN, IPVanish, many others) are Mossad honeypots Proton apparently a honeypot as well"
"@URCOfficial @IPVanish BKT biggest fraud. I won a competition in tire tries and no response or confirmation not even an email."
"@IPVanish I purchased a 2 year subscription to use while I travel to iran, the service absolutely does not work in Iran, the support is refusing to refund saying I passed 30 days, and iran is sanctioned! Isnt it unfair to keep my money and just say we cant service?"
"IPVanish works, they have OpenVPN profiles you can setup in Linux Network Manager gui."
"communications timeouts using nslookup or dig (see above reply). This really looks like an IPvanish internal routing issue. I've had it with probably a dozen connection points - they work fine for several weeks, then stop. It may be they reboot their DNS servers after patching but never test their connection points routing."
"you will need vpn to play. ipvanish works very well and doesn't ruin dmg meter. Tho mind, ipvanish and many other vpns are blocked in Russia, so check first that vpn itself isn't blocked for your country."
"I like ipvanish!"
"u/Dangerous-Carpet7713 really good speeds with the IPVanish network overall, most of their network has 40Gb/s servers and Surfshark is mostly 10Gb/s I think. I am in the states and I get \~900Mb/s with my Gig connection. This is on my mac. Streaming is good, I use for multiple services. If you ever have an issue like when one of the streamers falls off, let their support team know and they usually fix it pretty quick."
"I have been using IPVanish for years, never had an issue"
"I use IpVanish. Never had any issues"
"which vpn is trustworthy from an actual security standpoint not just marketing **update:** after reading all the audits and no-logs policy details, i settled on ipvanish because it felt the most trustworthy for my security needs. the fact that they own their entire server network gives me more confidence in their commitment to privacy versus using rented servers. it's fast, secure, and i like that they offer unlimited connections. i'm trying to find a vpn that's legitimately secure with proven no-logs policies and transparent practices. i work in it and skeptical of vpn marketing claims afte..."
"@IPVanish No reply, this is a generic reply so you show you care but, customer be aware 0 progress"
"Psiphon Pro, IPVanish, ProtonVPN (only some countries work though) all mainstream VPNs are blocked."
"Bye-bye, IPVanish."
"Ipvanish is improving their service and support. May be some users don't believe their service because of their past act but now they their service is being better day by day. I am also their happy customer for over 6 month."
"Ipvanish worked just fine for my Firestick 4K."
"@firasmodad IPVanish (location=Zurich) works fine for me."
"@DeeOakster @140_Vince @T3chFalcon @grok PureVPN = British Islands IPVanish = USA based UFO = Hong Kong based Yeah, the countries that they're based in are all red flags. Could easily find free vpn browser extensions that have logged and even take screenshots of user's browsing experience."
"@DerylLynn @IPVanish Example, Was set to U.K. Just rerouted to show I’m in Albania! https://t.co/Ejn6ftdJC6"
"@DerylLynn @IPVanish I use it when abroad to watch U.K. tv etc. Basically I can set it to show I’m in any country in world even though I’m not. Costs c £60 per year."
"@werelostinmusi6 Used one for years, tried a few but stuck with ipvanish."
"I have been wondering how well they really work. I use IPvanish. While watching the TV section on my fire stick I got a commercial from my home town. It used to be commercials from the town the VPN was set to. How did they know my town?"
"Why? While I know that technically I don’t need a VPN to use RD, I use it on practically everything I stream. I just don’t want my ISP or anyone else looking at my traffic and keeping track of where I go. I can tell it upsets my ISP, who I believe wants to be able to prioritize traffic, because they actually were able to block the domain for IPVanish."
"What I do is overkill but I set my guest network to tunnel all the traffic to a vpn provider. Any device on the guest network gets thrown through a vpn, which my isp cant see Op if you want to do this- I use a Ubiquiti unifi system and an ipvanish vpn."
"yeah, it's tough to really trust any vpn these days with all the marketing fluff, feels like they all say the same thing until you dig into it. but honestly, after looking around myself for a while, ipvanish does seem to be one of the few that actually backs up their claims, especially with the server ownership."
"@TheKilgoreCrew That is strange check your connection and reconnect IPVanish should be fine."
"@TiggerVizsla @IPVanish That’s a fair price too . Thank you"
"@AFCWimbledon @IPVanish Their services will come in handy as and when x is banned in the UK…"
"Broke boy. IPvanish is $5 a week. Subscribe then unsubscribe."
"IPVanish works well, though I will be switching to Proton VPN after my subscription expires because IPVanish doesn't have easy support for one of the devices I use."
"I had a similar issue off and on for a couple of days but it has gone away - if you still can't connect, I would recommend sending an email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])"
"IPVanish has published its Transparency Report for Q4 2025, outlining how it handled government requests, copyright complaints, and abuse reports between October and December - without sharing any user data. According to the report: • 25 legal requests were received • 28,636 DMCA notices were processed • 6 abuse reports were handled • Zero identifiable user data was disclosed The company attributes this to its independently audited no-logs policy, which prevents it from storing activity data in the first place. The report also highlights broader Trust Center initiatives, incl..."
"[Headscale](https://github.com/juanfont/headscale) and [Tailscale](https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale) are essentially an open source, sovereign VPN setup. Tailscale is the one most techies are aware of. That replaces the client side, it's the UI that installs onto your computer and phone that you use to connect to your VPN. Headscale is the backend/server portion of that. Tailscale is open source but is still a company and their coordination server knows which devices are in your network and their public IP addresses. In a subpoena scenario, Tailscale Inc. could be forced to hand over t..."

"Not all are created equal. One company bought up several. Not all are slow. Just get one with the Wireguard protocol. I leave it running all the time and can even max my 500gb home connection speed downloading mirror files from my seedbox simultaneously and it never slows down. Mullvad for the win. I used Mullvad. Proton is also good. You want one with no logging. .* Mullvad (you can even do it without giving up email, just pay (can even use crypto) and you have an account number and that's it. (Best for privacy) " Proton (solid but inconsistent speeds when I recently tried it again). ..."
"Did you say VPN... VPN INFO I compiled & Suggested based on Verifications Disclaimer---I have NO affiliation with any entity here or similar What a VPN does-- Encrypts traffic between your device and an internet server to generally mask your IP from local networks your ISP etc. It can make you look like you’re in a different location for a variety of reasons. Some use them to get access to different or blocked content VPN’s CAN be used to provide more security on public WiFi at airports, cafes, restaurants etc. It can allow one to bypass school, work or Gov firewalls, helps w..."
"In your 1password article, The big players are Nord Security, which owns NordVPN, Atlas VPN, and Surfshark; Ziff Davis, which owns IPVanish and StrongVPN; and Kape Technologies (formerly Crossrider), which owns CyberGhost VPN, ZenMate VPN, Private INternet Access, and ExpressVPN. Nordvpn is not owned by Kape. It's owned by Nord Security."

"Jumping on here because I just got ONN 4k plus because my firestick bricked. I have IPVanish paid subscription. I haven’t added it yet because I just did the initial ONN setup. What is Debrid? Do I need it if I have IPVanish?"

"You can't have a "very broad description" for a niche website we know he used lol. You can try it out on a few different link checkers if you want. IPVanish in particular shows you the url of where it leads."

"May be you did not heard about IPvanish but is one of oldest vpn. It works fine on both iphone and ipad but charges for any technical support."
"I mean, I literally mentioned how it was used by Germany during Hitler's rise to power and how despite on paper claiming "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear," in practice...you very much were not safe when giving up your privacy to bad actors. But okay. And yes, it is a fallacious argument, and I am far from the only person to say so. Here are a multitude of sources that either point this out and/or why it is not a sound justification from eliminating personal privacy and giving either corporations or government entities carte blanche over your personal data: [https://ww..."
"Fyi - Of your three choices, only Surfshark has a kill switch for the Firestick. Expressvpn and Ipvanish are the only others that offer it as far as I'm aware."
