What the Community Says

Community Rating 7.5/10

Bitdefender VPN comes up a lot as a “nice extra” if you already pay for Bitdefender antivirus. People like that it’s simple to use, and some say it does a surprisingly good job blocking ads compared to other VPNs they’ve tried. It also gets mentioned as a handy way to get around potential UK-style blocks and for getting into certain sites when other VPNs get blocked.

The biggest hesitation is trust and privacy: a few people straight-up don’t trust the company, and some feel the VPN side isn’t serious enough compared to dedicated VPN brands. Support also sounds inconsistent—some have a smooth experience, others hit problems and feel stuck. If you need rock-solid privacy policies, advanced controls, or a “VPN-first” product for work, this may feel a bit limited.

Strengths

  • Convenient if you already use Bitdefender
  • Easy, no-fuss apps
  • Ad blocking that some people really like
  • Can help get around blocks and restrictions

Weaknesses

  • Trust and privacy doubts from some people
  • Not as full-featured as VPN-only services
  • Support can be hit or miss
  • Can feel “bundled” rather than best-in-class
Best for: People who already pay for Bitdefender and want an all-in-one package Casual VPN users who want something simple for everyday browsing People who mainly want basic privacy on public Wi‑Fi and light censorship bypass
Not ideal for: Privacy purists who want a VPN with a strong, proven no-logs reputation Business users who need advanced VPN features and dependable support Anyone who needs a dedicated, top-tier VPN as their main security tool

"I have no idea about web protection VPN but BD's vpn is a total joke."

"Bit defender is garbage and provides virtually no value above windows defender so your family is doing you a favor by uninstalling it.  I doubt they actually can, becuase I now need to do a reformat on my PC becuase bit defender literally cannot be uninstalled and I don't feel like going in through a command line and the regedit to manually dig it all out."

"Bitdefender VPN is really good it blocks ads better than any other I've used."

"I have a Bitdefender subscription and I use their VPN which I'm perfectly happy with. For transparency: Bitdefender is Romanian but does have a second headquarters in the US to cater to their overseas market."

"Bitdefender / Kaspersky 👍"

"You should. There are a couple of VPNs out there who have no logging as a feature. This means they don't keep a log of what you do with the VPN, they don't keep any logs about what sites you visit or what file sharing software you use. They don't keep any records of what torrents you might (or might not) download. And that there is the key point. I do not think that Bitdefender does that though I am prepared to be proven wrong. The other things that Bitdefender does you can do with other free software. You could install third party free antivirus. Any decent av software will pick up on mo..."

"AVG and Norton are huge resource hogs. Only third party program I used and would recommend is bit defender as others have suggested. It also has a VPN built in"

"Bought a subscription for bitdefender on noon and it was the same company that sold it. After two months it's still working and it's a legit licence key. Only have that one experience to go on but they seem legit, and I'll probably use them again if I need a subscription to anything else. I paid less than half of what the price was on the official bitdefender website"

"Because computer system users are extremely stupid and will blindly set a Bitdefender password then promptly forget it. Then they will be pissed at Bitdefender and support when they are told there is no way to remove it without the password, the only option is to completely erase their computer and start over. In a business environment that is fine and how Bitdefender works. But at home it’s just asking for problems. If your family are using proper standard user accounts and not administrator accounts they can’t remove Bitdefender. Then the password comes in handy to stop them from disabl..."

"I have used SS, just about since they started then off and on. Support is hit or miss. With more misses. It works well, or people have issues with it. I would like to say that when streaming or downloading people are getting denied by the site not the VPN. But I have no experience with that, as I use VPN mostly for thing that need privacy. I think also where a person lives also can effect things. The support people are nice . But they suck at troubleshooting, they waste allot of time in my opinion and I avoid them if I can. That said the price is pretty good there, the AV sucked a..."

"Why doesn't Bitdefender prevent itself from being uninstalled? It seems a bit strange to me that if I set an administrator password for the antivirus, so no one in my family can disable the protections, they can still uninstall the antivirus with one click. Most antivirus programs have this feature, but Bitdefender does not. And it's strange, because it's one of the three best."

"I have Bitdefender it is a really good I have premium security it scans better than Eset and it has good mobile app as well however wouldn't use the VPN nor securepass because there better options such as Proton VPN and Proton Pass as well Mullvad for a VPN"

r/antivirus 1 week ago View on Reddit →

"For what I saw Eset is not as good as Bitdefender or Kaspersky and Proton is best VPN I don't know about Mullvad people say its also really good but don't really use VPN's that much."

"9 months later, I started using it. way better at ad blocking than nordvpn and bitdefender. Great simple android app. Just works."

r/mullvadvpn 2 months ago View on Reddit →

"Bitdefender has better detection rates whilst Eset is more lightweight and easy to use, Kaspersky has a little bit of controversy. Proton and Nord are top tier and mullvad has proven it's no logs policy is iron clad."

"Hi there. The Bitdefender Premium Security does include a VPN Premium subscription, and you\`ll be able to use VPN on all devices in the subscription. ✌🏼"

r/bitdefender 1 week ago View on Reddit →

"Yep Bitdefender is great but I should warn you, for UK users The standard license usually includes only 200MB of daily traffic per device. To get the Unlimited VPN, you must purchase the specific tier usually called "Bitdefender Premium Security" or "Bitdefender Ultimate Security.""

"Ta question est amusante vu ton pseudo. Personnellement je n'ai pas d'avis, mais à choisir je préfère BitDefender en 2025 si tu veux vendre de l'AV et paraitre crédible."

"Yes you would Bitdefender is really good anti virus however I think there bit better VPN's out there like Mullvard and Proton VPN but it is still good"

"Should I use the web protection vpn or the standard bitdefender vpn? I got the individual bitdefender ultimate plan but it looks like I can’t use the web protection feature and the vpn simultaneously since iOS doesn’t allow for more than one vpn connection. So which one should I use more often? I did some research and it looks like web protection protects me from websites known to be used for phishing attacks while the vpn (on top of the ad blocker) simply hides my identity and encrypts my data. I’m simply not sure on which one I should keep turned on. I asked AI and it said the vpn w..."

"Many people prefer one account with one bill offerings. And Proton so far has a good reputation. Nevertheless, if you want to diversify, you can look into Tuta Mail (e-mail, calendar), Filen.io (cloud storage), Mullvad or IVPN (VPN), Bitwarden (password manager)."

"ProtonVPN has been the biggest for accessing things banned in the UK. As for Bitdefender, Amazon also tends to sell keys cheap. As an antivirus it's one of if not the best."

"Have any programs like Kaspersky, NordVPN, Eset, BitDefender and or CCleaner installed? If so, temporarily uninstall (not just disable) them one by one to see if one is the causing the issues. In all your browsers, try disabling your extensions one by one to see if one is causing it. In Opera for example, try enabling DNS over HTTPS at the URL ```opera://settings/system``` to test if it helps. Make sure the time, date, time zone and daylight savings settings in Windows are correct. In settings in Windows, goto "Network & Internet -> Proxy". Make sure "automatically detect se..."

"I use a mix of folders for BIG categories, and then pseudotags for more specific organization: * Folders: Entertainment, Finance, Shopping. * Pseudotags: Within entertainment, I add by the end of all entries a pseudotag that specifies it more. For example: * Folder (Entertainment): * "Reddit - \[Social\]" * "Activision - \[Gaming\]" * "DAZN - \[Streaming\]" * Folder (Shopping): * "Adidas - \[Clothes\]" * "Iberia - \[Travel\]" * "Pedidos Ya - \[Food\]" To me, this is the possible organization with Bitwarden's current UI that offers the more value. It gives you the advantag..."
