What the Community Says

Community Rating 7.5/10

Windscribe comes up a lot as a solid “everyday VPN” that’s easy to use and doesn’t cost much, especially if you grab a deal. People like that it’s pretty upfront about what a VPN can and can’t do for privacy, and it gets mentioned alongside other trusted names when someone wants something sensible for basic protection. The free option is handy for light browsing and short videos, and some folks really like the personality and responsiveness of the team.

The biggest complaints are about reliability in tougher situations: streaming can be a headache (slow loading, blocks, and getting banned on services like Netflix or Prime), and speeds can dip during busy hours. Some people are also frustrated by missing features they want (like SOCKS5 proxies) and how certain sites get routed without much user control. If you’re in a heavy-censorship country, there are comments about it struggling to connect during blackouts, which can be a dealbreaker.

Strengths

  • Easy to use
  • Good value when discounted
  • Handy free tier for light use
  • Privacy-minded with audits mentioned
  • Lots of features and customization

Weaknesses

  • Unreliable for Netflix and Prime Video
  • Speed drops during busy hours
  • Can struggle under heavy censorship
  • Missing features some power users want
  • Some routing/proxy behavior feels out of your control
Best for: People who want a simple VPN for browsing and everyday privacy Light users who like having a free option Budget-minded folks who can wait for a deal Users who want lots of settings to tinker with
Not ideal for: Anyone who mainly wants a VPN for Netflix or Amazon Prime People in countries with strict internet blocks or frequent blackouts Power users who need SOCKS5 proxies or very specific routing control Folks who want consistently top speeds at peak times

Reviews about "Server Locations"

"So I checked out the full list of @windscribecom servers. Someone clearly had a sense of humor naming these things. Kind of nice to see actually. Also Windscribe is one of the few VPNs that works so well with OpenWRT using wireguard. Only other one aside from @mullvadnet I've found that does. Both of these VPNs are fantastic btw."

"@windscribecom @uyandiricinin windscribe is better to me. I feel more comfortable with servers that are actually in the countries they claim to be in."

"for everyone saying not in canada - windscribe is $3 a month for three locations. means you can get cbc while travelling too. its not the best but its cheap and it works well enough for hockey"

"Just used Windscribe to teleport my IP to Mars. NASA called. They want their bandwidth back. @WindscribeCom"

"Russia has launched another aggressive wave of VPN blocks, with services like Windscribe recording sharp traffic drops. Internet censorship continues to escalate as governments try to control what citizens can access online 🌐"

"@windscribecom Grok only, and everything is accurate and not false. I know that PureVPN gave the data of one user to the FBI, but since then they have no more logs at all. PureVPN has more real countries than Windscribe, you are using fake virtual servers sadly. PureVPNs live chat is better."
