JK Rowling’s series of Harry Potter novels are aimed at young people, but the magical exploits of the wizard schoolboy have captured an audience of all ages. The movies made out of these stories are some of the highest grossing in history.

In total there are eight Harry Potter movies. These are:

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010)
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011)

The last of these, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, grossed more than $1 billion and is the 12th highest-grossing movie of all time. The complete cycle of Harry Potter movies grosses a total of $7.7 billion.

Watch Harry Potter online

Harry Potter is a sought-after character all over the world. The standard marketing system for movies sees the broadcast rights being auctioned off on a country-by-country basis. Beyond the premier licenses, film production companies also sell off the second-tier rights to broadcast their content. These later, non-exclusive rights can be duplicated in each territory and that means that a popular movie franchise, such as Harry Potter ends up being available in a lot of places. However, despite the fact that the newest Harry Potter movie is now nine years old, access to the franchise is still tightly controlled.

In the USA, the television broadcast rights for all Harry Potter movies are held by NBCUniversal. The company makes the Harry Potter films available on its USA Network and Syfy channels, which both have online video libraries.

You will see information around the web that Harry Potter is shown on HBO but this is old news and the NBC deal forced HBO to remove Harry Potter from its library.

Amazon Prime doesn’t include Harry Potter in its subscription service. However, you can purchase the movies on DVD from Amazon and watch them online through Amazon as a streaming video rental. Similarly, the movies are available to rent or buy and then stream online through iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu.

Where else to watch Harry Potter

In the UK, the Harry Potter movies have been broadcast by ITV. However, they are not available for online streaming through either the ITV Hub or Britbox. All Harry Potter movies are now available on Sky in the UK. This means that you can watch all of the Harry Potter films if you subscribe to the Sky Cinema package either through cable or satellite. Such a package would be channeled to your home TV, but it also gives you free access to all the content you qualify to watch at home via Sky Go online.

Now TV is the equivalent of Sky Go, but without having to have a home TV package with Sky. It has all of the Harry Potter movies available until the end of February 2021. Now TV is a subscription service and has a range of packages. You need to get the Now TV Sky Cinema plan in order to access Harry Potter movies online through this system.

Some websites will tell you that the Harry Potter films are available for Netflix in Spain, France, Belgium, Australia, and New Zealand. However, I have accessed the Netflix library for all of those countries and I can attest that this is no longer the case.

Netflix Canada does have the last four Harry Potter movies: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2.

How to stream Harry Potter movies from Netflix with a VPN

Netflix knows where each customer is physically located in the world because all requests arriving at the system’s server have a return address on them. Internet addresses are called IP addresses and they can be tied to a location. This is how Netflix can present a different site while using the same web address, Netflix.com, all over the world.

If you are in the USA, Netflix will see that and give you the Netflix USA library, which doesn’t include any Harry Potter movies. If you travel to Canada and access Netflix, you will get the Netflix library for Canada instead.

You shouldn’t have to travel to Canada just to watch Harry Potter. However, a service, called a VPN, can make it seem as though you have moved. A VPN is a type of proxy. It stands between your device and the web servers that your browser needs to access to get web pages. It presents the requests on behalf of the browser, giving its own IP address as the origin. Thus, if you choose a VPN server in Canada before connecting to Netflix, you will appear to be in Canada and get the Canadian video library, no matter where you really are.

If you want to watch Harry Potter movies in Netflix, go for Netflix Canada. Here’s how.

  • Subscribe to a VPN provider with US servers (such as ExpressVPN)
  • Download and install the VPN app onto your devices
  • Connect to a server in Canada
  • Open Netflix in your browser or through the Netflix app
  • Click on the spyglass icon and search for Harry Potter
  • Click on a movie and watch the video

VPNs for Harry Potter

There are many VPNs available in the world and most of them are no use. Netflix is particularly strict about the use of VPNs. Its access systems scan for VPN activity and block their requests. The majority of VPNs in the world can’t get into Netflix. In fact, most of them state on their websites that no VPN can get into Netflix. This is not true. There are a few and we know where they are. This is why we put together a list of the best VPNs to watch Harry Potter movies online. These will all get you into Netflix Canada.

Killing Eve, starring Sandra Oh, is an exciting thriller, set in stunning locations around Europe. The plot surrounds secret service agent, Eve Polastri and the assassin who has been hired to kill her.

The first season of this spy-chase suspense drama aired in the USA in April 2018. The thriller is a production of BBC America and gets released on that channel first. BBC One in the UK showed the first season of the drama in September 2018. The serial has also been picked up by RTE2 in Ireland and TVNZ 2 in New Zealand.

The series went into a second season in April 2019 and its third season is scheduled for release in April 2020. BBC America has already commissioned a fourth season of the drama. Following the release date pattern of seasons one to three, you can expect season four to air in April 2021.

Killing Eve on BBC America

BBC America is jointly owned by AMC in the USA and the BBC in the UK. There is a lot of crossover between BBC America and its sister channels, so Killing Eve is available from the BBC and AMC as well as on BBC America.

The main delivery system of BBC America is cable TV. Killing Eve is first shown to US cable subscribers and episodes are also available on the BBC America website. The BBC America channel is included by all of the major cable systems in the USA, so if you have cable TV at home, you can probably track down Killing Eve in the catchup system of your TV package.

The BBC America website allows the public to watch their channel live online and also watch videos from their on-demand/catchup library. As the third season prepares to launch, all of season two is available on the BBC America website plus the first two episodes of season one.

As the third season progresses, you will be able to watch the broadcast of each episode live on the BBC America website and also view all of the past episodes in the catchup library as the season progresses. However, you have to enter the details of your cable TV package in order to access all content on the BBC America website.

Where else to watch Killing Eve

If you don’t have access to BBC America, try AMC. The AMC website has all of season two available and will add episodes of season three after each airs. Episode one of season two is available for anyone to watch. The menu for the season’s video implies that you have to set up an account in order to watch all of the other episodes. However, this is not necessary – I accessed all of those episodes without having to log in.

There is only one restriction on access: you have to be in the United States to watch. When the new season is ongoing, you can watch each episode as it airs, but you have to create an account to access them and you need to be receiving AMC through a home cable TV package in order to do that.

In the United States, Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling TV, Philo, and fuboTV all have Killing Eve. These are all subscription services for which you have to prove location in the USA to join and you have to be located in the USA when you access each video. Killing Eve is also available on Amazon Prime, but not for subscribers in all countries.

Over in the UK, the BBC makes all episodes of Killing Eve available for streaming on the BBC iPlayer. It currently has seasons one and two available on the iPlayer site.

In order to access videos on the BBC iPlayer, you must be physically located in the UK and set up an account that is linked to your TV license. A growing number of people in the country object to the compulsory TV license system of funding for the BBC and have taken the opportunity to opt out, declaring that they never watch the BBC by any means. If you have taken this path, you cannot access any programs on the BBC iPlayer.

On the continent of Europe, HBO Europe owns the rights to Killing Eve for a long list of countries in Northern and Eastern Europe plus Spain and Portugal. This is a pay-TV service and the Killing Eve episodes are all available online through HBO Go.

Many of the iconic scenes in Killing Eve were filmed in France and Italy. The distribution of the drama in those countries went to Canal+ in France and TIMVision in Italy. The Canal+ website currently has season one available for streaming and downloading. You have to have a home TV Canal+ subscription in order to watch any of the shows streamed from the system’s website. TIMVision is an online subscription streaming service and it currently has seasons one and two of Killing Eve available.

In Hong Kong, Now TV shows Killing Eve online. Now TV is a subscription service and you have to have a HK Identity Card to join. The Israeli cable TV service, Hot has Killing Eve and it also makes the series available online to its home TV package subscribers.

Although RTE 2 bought the rights to show Killing Eve in Ireland, the Irish broadcasting corporation does not make the series available online through its RTE Player system.

In New Zealand, TVNZ has series one and two available on its website. The system will have season three, once it airs on the broadcaster’s terrestrial system. TVNZ requires users to set up an account before allowing any selected video to play. However, there is no requirement to prove residency in New Zealand and the system is free to use. The access to videos is closely guarded and you will need to reset your operating system time zone to New Zealand time, turn off popup and ad blockers and turn off location detection in your operating system and browser before you can get videos to play on the site if you are not in New Zealand.

Of all of the online streaming services that show Killing Eve, AMC is the easiest to get into without paying to view.

Why use a VPN to watch Killing Eve?

If you live in the USA and you have taken the cord cutting pledge or if you live in the UK and you object to the BBC getting your money through the license fee, then it will be very difficult to access Killing Eve through your TV.

Online streaming services will become your only option if you don’t want to subscribe to a home TV package through cable or satellite. These services are all restricted to specific locations, so you need to fool the access procedures of those streaming services into thinking that you are in the country that they allow access to. This is exactly the service that VPNs provide.

How to stream Killing Eve from outside the US with a VPN

  • Subscribe to a VPN provider with US servers (such as ExpressVPN)
  • Download and install the VPN app onto your devices
  • Connect to a server in the USA
  • Surf to the AMC website in your browser
  • Scroll through the list of featured shows or access the search facility to find Killing Eve
  • Click on an episode and watch the video

VPNs for Killing Eve

Video streaming services know all about VPNs and they take steps to detect them and block them. Very few VPNs in the world can actually evade detection and get you access to entertainment. There are hundreds of VPNs available on the market and most of them are no use. You will particularly be wasting your time with free VPNs. This is why we have put together a list of VPNs that can get you into AMC from outside America so that you can watch Killing Eve for free.

After more than ten years on our screen, Modern Family aired its last episode on April 8 2019. The iconic comedy series won’t disappear, though. The dry, documentary-style delivery of the groundbreaking show ensures it will still keep entertaining fans the world over through reruns.

Modern Family changed the attitudes of Americans and the viewing public the world over. By integrating a gay couple into a family structure and showing an apparently age-mismatched older American with a hot Latina wife who genuinely seemed to love each other, the comedy challenged stereotypes. The calm manner in which the show exposed prejudices and presented reasonable counter-arguments released social tensions in the viewing population and gave everyone the courage to discuss issues rationally.

The series ran to eleven seasons, with a total of 250 episodes. Amazingly, all of the original cast remained with the show, with the younger actors growing up before the eyes of the viewers.

Watch Modern Family online

Modern Family is an ABC production. The ABC website shows some episodes of season 11, but not all. It lists five episodes of the season. So, if you missed out on the whole season, or if you want to binge-watch all of Modern Family from season one episode one right up to the finale, you will need to look elsewhere.

Where else to watch Modern Family

The availability of Modern Family online has changed drastically over recent years. Until 2013, only ABC had the show. During that year, the company started to sell the rerun rights to the show. These went to USA Network, Fox, and a number of local stations in the USA.

USA Network has a TV viewing app for mobile devices, set-top boxes, and Xbox consoles. However, in order to watch, you will need to log in with your cable TV provider passkey.

It is possible to watch Modern Family through Hulu and YouTube TV – both subscription streaming services. iTunes and Vudu rent or sell the digital videos of the show. The service on Hulu is just a pass-through of ABC, so you won’t be able to access any more episodes than those available on the ABC website. You also won’t be able to access any videos through Hulu if you are outside the United States.

DIRECTV shows all seasons, including season 11, but not all of those are available to watch online at the DIRECTV website. Only those who have a home TV package with DIRECTV can access streaming videos at the service’s website.

In all cases, those streaming services in the USA that have Modern Family in their libraries, only allow the videos to play in browsers that are located in the USA. They will not respond to requests for Modern Family that arrive from outside the country.

Modern Family is shown by Sky One in the UK, Star World in India, Fox in Sweden, and yes Comedy in Israel. In Canada, Citytv has the rights to show the first ten seasons and also got the syndication distribution rights for Canada for the entire franchise. The company didn’t pick up the right to premier the final season of Modern Family in Canada, though. That went to Global.

Citytv has all of its episodes available on its website. However, viewers have to log in with their cable TV network identifier, so those who don’t have a cable TV package that includes Citytv are locked out. The website will also block access to Modern Family videos to anyone who is not located in Canada even if they can provide the necessary cable TV service proof.

The Global TV website only shows the last-aired episode of Modern Family and blocks access to anyone outside Canada. The video is free to watch, though and doesn’t require a login.

Sky One is part of the Sky entertainment group, which is owned by Disney. The Sky channels can be watched online for free at Sky Go by those who already pay for a home Sky entertainment package. The Sky family also includes Now TV, which is exactly the same as Sky Go, but is paid for direct and is not linked to a home cable or satellite package.

Some advice sites on the web will tell you that Netflix shows Modern Family in some of its European libraries. However, I have checked this for myself and found that it isn’t true. Netflix doesn’t have the series anywhere.

Online video service, Lightbox in New Zealand has seasons one to ten available and Fox8 has the right to broadcast Modern Family in Australia. Fox8 is a cable and satellite TV service and home subscribers get to access entertainment, including modern Family online through Foxtel Go. Those who don’t want a home entertainment system, but just want to watch Foxtel programming online can subscribe to Foxtel Now in order to watch Modern Family in Australia. Videos on Lightbox can’t be accessed from outside New Zealand and none of the Foxtel online services will deliver video streams to browsers outside of Australia.

How to stream Modern Family outside the United States with a VPN

While the series is still recent, it is very difficult to get access to Modern Family episodes without signing up for a home TV package or a paid streaming video service. The easiest way to get to watch Modern Family episodes online is to opt for the episodes available at ABC. Here’s how.

  • Subscribe to a VPN provider with US servers (for example, ExpressVPN)
  • Download and install the VPN client onto your devices
  • Open the VPN client
  • Connect to a server in the USA and start the VPN
  • Go to the ABC website in your browser and look for the Modern Family page
  • Click on an episode and watch the video

If you subscribe to a home TV package with online access or a video streaming service that includes Modern Family, you won’t be able to watch online when you go out of your home country unless you use a VPN and connect through a server in your country. In those cases, follow the instructions above, but select a VPN location in your country and surf to the website of your video streaming service instead of to the ABC website.

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim, the evening incarnation of Cartoon Network. Adult Swim has its own website and streams its output live in a simulcast with its TV service. This should be great news for those who don’t have a TV package at home or want to watch Rick and Morty while away from home. However, there is a catch. You can only watch the Adult Swim stream if you have Adult Swim on your home cable package and you are in the United States.

The Rick and Morty cartoon show was developed from an aminated short that parodied the 80s hit movie, Back to the Future. The series is now in its fourth season and Adult Swim has contracted the producers of Rick and Morty for 70 new episodes spread over an unspecified number of seasons. That includes the current season’s episode count of 10. So there is likely to be at least another six seasons after season four.

Where to watch Rick and Morty

Adult Swim is available on all basic cable packages and Rick and Morty is one of the channel’s star attractions. So, you can watch Rick and Morty at home on your TV if you have cable. If you don’t subscribe to cable you have a problem. As stated above, you can only watch Rick and Morty online in the USA if you have a home cable TV package. The Adult Swim website only shows Rick and Morty as part of its live streaming service. So, if you missed an episode, you can’t catch up at the official Adult Swim website.

YouTubeTV does show Rick and Morty online in the USA even if you don’t have a cable TV subscription.

The availability of Rick and Morty outside the USA presents other streaming opportunities that enable you to watch any episode.

Seasons one to three are available on Netflix in a number of countries, including the UK and Australia. Those past season reruns are available within the USA on Hulu. The current season is shown on E4 in the United Kingdom. The E4 season is in near-synch with the episode releases in the USA. Unfortunately, Channel 4’s online version, All 4 does not include Rick and Morty episodes in its library, but you can watch E4 live through the All 4 website and catch the latest episodes. When the series is running, past episodes are available on the All 4 website for a limited period.

The French video streaming service Molotov TV has an Adults Swim and Toonami package for €2.99 per month. However, Molotov TV blocks access from the USA and you would have to watch Rick and Morty in French there. The German TV channel TNT Comedy shows Rick and Morty in German and it only has seasons one to three. Comedy Central shows Rick and Morty throughout Central and Eastern Europe, but it doesn’t show the series on its national websites in those regions.

In Russia, two streaming services have the rights to broadcast Rick and Morty. 2x2 has the first showing rights, so that is where you would go to watch the latest episodes. The show is accessed as part of a subscription service. For the Rick and Morty back catalog in Russia, you would need to go to KinoPoisk. This also charges a fee to view content.

TBS shows Rick and Morty in Spanish throughout Latin America, except for Brazil where it is broadcast in Portuguese.

Why use a VPN to watch Rick and Morty?

All of the streaming services that show Rick and Morty run access restrictions. Apart from the subscription requirement that most of these streaming services charge, they also impose location access restrictions. These blocks prevent anyone from outside of the country from accessing videos on that site. While most streaming services only cover one country, Netflix is a little different because it will buy the rights to broadcast a show in many countries. However, that does not mean that you can watch Rick and Morty in any country through Netflix.

A VPN includes you in a remote network. While the VPN is active on your device, all internet requests will go out from that network’s gateway. That means they arrive at the destination with the VPN network’s home address on them and not yours. Subscribers to VPN services get a choice of location servers in many countries, so it is possible to fool the location checks on video streaming services by picking the right country. So, if you are blocked from watching a video on a US streaming service because you are not in the USA, you just connect to a VPN network in the USA first. Then you will be allowed to access videos.

How to stream Rick and Morty from outside the US with a VPN

  • Subscribe to a VPN provider with US servers (such as ExpressVPN)
  • Download and install the VPN app onto your chosen devices
  • Connect to a server inside the USA (or the country of the other Rick and Morty broadcaster of your choice)
  • Surf to the video streaming service
  • Log in to your account
  • Use the site’s search facility to locate Rick and Morty
  • Skim through the season and episodes list to find the installment that you want to watch
  •  Click on your preferred episode. Watch the video.

VPNs for Rick and Morty

You have lots of options to watch Rick and Morty because it is shown in many different countries. However, in most cases, you need a subscription in order to watch the show. A VPN can get around the location blocks on video streaming sites, but it can’t break you into a subscription service without paying.

Schitt's Creek has just completed its sixth and final season. The successful Canadian comedy first aired in January 2015 on CBC. It was created by Eugene and Dan Levy, the father and son team that also starred as two of the show’s four main characters. The first four seasons ran to 13 episodes each, while seasons five and six each extended to 14 episodes. That means there are 79 individual Schitt’s Creek videos out there to stream online. You just have to find them.

The plot of Schitt’s Creek follows a bankrupt former-millionaire family as they try to rebuild their fortunes with their only remaining asset, a backwater settlement in the middle of nowhere. The family’s pretentious expectations are excellently amplified by award-winning actress Catherine O’Hara, who camps it up as the artsy former actress. Moira Rose struggles to cope with the realities of life without a cushion of money.

Although the wealthy Rose family are hilariously out of touch, their contacts and experience generally help them to struggle through. The comedy’s scripts exploit the cultural isolation of the family, while also sometimes letting them triumph when they find a way to keep their heads above water.

Canada’s state-owned broadcaster, CBC has stuck with Schitt’s Creek from its inception all the way through to its final season. That has given the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation a rich archive of Schitt’s Creek episodes. All of the Schitt’s Creek videos can be accessed on the CBC website by any member of the public as long as they are in Canada.

US network Pop TV owns the first broadcast rights in the USA. This small TV network was bought up by CBS Viacom and is now available to more than 67 million households in the USA through cable TV networks. Schitt’s Creek is the channel’s headlining program and has won Pop TV awards in the industry. All six seasons are available for online viewing at the Pop TV website.

Most cable TV channels make visitors to their websites enter proof of their qualifying cable subscriptions before allowing access to videos on their sites. Pop TV does this with the episodes of the sixth season of Schitt’s Creek but places no requirements on access to the episodes of the previous five seasons. However, there is one access block: only people who are physically located in the USA can watch. In fact, the entire Pop TV website will not load in browsers that are detected to be outside the United States.

Where else to watch Schitt’s Creek

The annoying cable TV login requirement to watch the latest series through Pop TV can be bypassed. The TV station also channels Schitt’s Creek through its Roku service, which is called PopNow. This route does not include the cable TV access block. All Schitt’s Creek seasons are available on Hulu and they can also be accessed on YouTube TV and fubo TV, which are subscription streaming services that are only available in the USA. Amazon and iTunes sell access to episodes as streaming video packages.

Netflix has seasons one to five available on its US service. These seasons are also available from Netflix in the UK, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, and Japan.

So, if you want to watch the latest season of Schitt’s Creek without paying and you are in Canada, go to the CBC website; if you are in the USA, access PopNow on Roku. If you are outside of those countries you will have a problem. Even if you are a Canadian citizen, you can’t get access to any video streams on the CBC website if you are outside of Canada at the time. Similarly, Pop TV won’t give you access even through Roku if you are not in the United States.

Fortunately, there is a way that you can seem to be in Canada or the United States no matter where you really are in the world. This is possible because if a system called a “virtual private network,” or VPN. A VPN is a form of “proxy,” which means that it acts on behalf of other computers. When a user connects to a VPN service all internet traffic channels through the VPN, arriving at the target web server with the VPN server’s IP address on it as the point of origin. Video streaming servers check the physical location associated with each IP address and that’s how they know who to block.

All VPN subscription services have several servers in different countries around the world. The user has an app, which is called a client and that establishes a connection to the selected VPN server. So, in order to get access to Schitt’s Creek on the CBC website, you just have to select a server in Canada when firing up the VPN. To get PopNow on Roku to give you access, select a VPN server in the USA.
